Lili & Karpatiske Suite

DKK 20.00

The first two singles, from upcoming album Valdemars Rejse, due september 2026.

First stop: “Lili”

The journey begins in fin de siècle Europe. Here, impressionism merges with a nordic warmth, carried forward by the vibrating tone of the cello, played by Live Johansson. “Lili” pauses and asks: Are we humans really so different now from a hundred years ago?

The song is also a tribute to the French composer Lili Boulanger – a genius who died far too young but managed to write some truly forward-looking works. And her works deserves to be heard much more.

Second stop: “Karpatiske Suite”

The journey continues to the mountain regions of Eastern Europe. Here, a headstrong violin, played by danish/romanian violinist and good friend, Andrea Gyarfas commands the wild Romanian scales – throwing itself over cliff edges and landing softly in lyrical harmonies. In Karpatiske Suite, sorrow and joy dance side by side. This is a piece I’ve worked on for such a long time. I am not actually sure when I started the first sketch, but its at least 10 years old, and have been through any changes. So happy that it finally made its way to the recorded side.
